BIG DAN HOSKINS: About Me

My name is Dan Hoskins I grew up in westview ky,just a couple of miles

from Rough River. I am the son of George and Wanda Hoskins,and the

oldest brother of Dave, Gretchen,and George. The world lost my brother

George 19 years ago on a motorcycle. Miss you bro. Well lets see how This

all begain. My grandpa bought me my first bass over 30 years ago when I

was a kid. I became obsessed and before I knew it I was playing

penicostal churches.VFWs,School dances ,anything I could. I had a rock

band in high school with my brother George , best friend Jeff,And

another friend Ted Brown. Ted was older and had been playing longer.I

owe a lot of playing music to Ted. We would set up all hours of the

night learning songs, and talking about wild women.Ted would show me

licks on bass and I can still remember those ham and chese sandwiches. I

graduated High school at the age of 17 and joined the United States

Marines. I went all over the world and that exposed me to many cultures

and music . I Later joined the U.S. Coast Guard from which I am now

retired. I have always performed every chance I could, Now as a solo act

I am no stranger to events,and venues throughout the U.S. Artist that

has inspired me; Delbert McClinton, Etta James, Tower of Power, Joe

Cocker, The Red Hot Chilly Peppers. Dr.John,The Eagles,Flea,Jaco James

Brown,anything that grooves. My Education: Military,Some College,and the

School of Hard Knocks.
